Spellbound

I sat there, my brown eyes wet,
tears trickling down my cheeks,
I sat there, my place set.
I don't know what to do or say,
for I'm spellbound
and that too in a negative way.

An interrogative thought arises,
It says why I chose to go through all this
when I could choose the easy way.
I don't know what to do or say
for I'm spellbound
and that too in a negative way.

She was sad, stressed and betrayed
praying and pleading,
she wanted this eternal pain to go away.
Communicating with God,
now, he was the only answer to her building pain.
Whenever I look at her, I don't know what to do or say
for I'm spellbound
And that too in a negative way.

Even through the painful invisible wounds,
She had a faint smile plastered on her face
reflecting her strong positive aura,
Inspiring me to stay strong.
I don't know what to do or say
for I'm spellbound
But now, in a positive way.

This is my first self composition. Of course I tried to become Shakespeare before this (even though my poem is typical Sylvia Plath) but  I realized, poetry is not just a few lines with rhyming words. Poetry is a combination of feelings and emotions, which cannot be expressed in other ways. I could never complete my poems. This is the first poem I've ever completed.

Hope you liked it. :)

The Paris-Bombay Collection // Karl Lagerfeld

The whole collection was stunning: pearl beaded Nehru jackets were layered over sari-draped dresses and slim leather churidar trousers. I loved how diamonds were hanging from the tikka's/matha patti's (Ornate Headpieces) The jewelry was really paid attention to since it is such an integral part of our culture. Also, I noticed how Lagerfeld played with the footwear. Models were wearing differently styled flats in each foot. It was lovey to see men in Nehru jackets with a "Pagdi" (A long piece of cloth used to drape the head) draped on their heads.
I saw the video and the pictures -both. I bet you all must have seen the pictures so here is a LIVE sit-at-home kind of Fashion show for you -

A Closer Look : Red Block Heels

I have been swamped with so much work and that is why I haven't been able to post. I bought a beautiful pair of red block heels a while back that I haven't gotten the chance to style... yet. Hopefully I will come up with something good and post it here.

These suede heels are so comfortable that I can literally run a marathon in them. Hah!

Interview: Janera Rose, Celebrity Make-up and Hair Stylist

Hello there, everyone.
In this post i got the privilege of interviewing a celebrity Make-up and Hair Stylist Janera Rose. She has some AMAZING skills. She was born and raised in Baltimore and now resides in Brooklyn NYC. When she was a kid she was given the nickname "Hollywood" for her glamorous behavior and her unique style. I got to meet her, yet, on the internet, on IFB (the hub of all the fashion bloggers) and she turned out to be sweet as hell.

Q) What are your hobbies?

A) Roaming NYC streets, Missing my parents, Singing, Playing Piano, Dancing, Reading, Writing,Listening to Music, Wannabe DJ'n, studying my craft, practicing my craft, thrifting and people watching like a true creeper. Basically Somewhere laughing and loving life while sipping something fancy and Creating opportunities. Keyword: Creating. Did I mention "Being Fabulous"?! Oh ok. Add that too.

Q) When do you turn 16?

A) Chile I'm grown. Early 20-Something going on late 40 something.

Q) What is your favorite color?

A) Gold. Cuz all that glitters...

Q) What's your favorite quote?

A) God has a plan for me I have faith. My friend John tweets this daily and I now live by IT.

Q) When did you first start practicing your profession?

A) I was about 19 traveling to and from Maryland to NYC for gigs. It all happened so fast and by accident but on purpose. I just like ended up here and now I can't get enough. I think someone told me it's called "Destiny."
Yeah about that...

Q) What/Who inspired you to become a make-up artist?

A) Madame CJ Walker is my biggest inspiration. First African American female in the beauty industry to become a Billionaire. That in itself...Speaks wonders what hard work can do. I'm also inspired by beauty. All creations of life are beautiful. And I honestly just want to be the BEST and that's inspiration enough in it's self. I'm actually really inspired by myself. I didn't know I had it in me. I really didn't.

Q) Being in the Fashion industry, what is YOUR perception about it?

A) "FuFuLa" as I call it. I absolutely LOVE what I do but this industry is so over saturated with folks who just wanna be...and end up wannabes. I don't wanna end up like that. Thus I do my job stay true to who I am and won't let the industry conform into a robot like most. Fashion can bring many amazing opportunities (Working NYFW,traveling, meeting amazing people, Fabulous photo shoots & such) but I don't want to be stuck in just fashion. My artistry is diverse in many industries within the beauty field.

Q) Who is your fashionspiration?

A) I really enjoy Pat McGrath. She's an African American makeup artist. One of the best who has broken barriers and opened doors for younger artist like myself. Google Her.

Q) Did you ever think you'd be a celebrity Make-up artist, when you were in school?

A) No Idea. I always said I wanted to move to NYC.I always said I wanted to be in the "industry" but never knew where these dreams came from. It's funny how God plants amazingness in your DNA. You may not understand the dreams he gives you at first but it's no mistake how I ended up here. I've been doing this for yearssss. Hobby turned successful career. I'm still shocked how this all played out. But I know it's no mistake.

Q) Who all have experienced your skills?

A) I wish I could *insert resume credits here* Chile Ive done soo much in such a short time. Where do I begin?  I've had many new publications this year (2011) alone... Like - EssenceMag  ; EbonyMag ; VibeMag ; TimeOutNYMag "Most Stylish NewYorker" and a host of tv features including ABC ; VH1 ; MTV ; BET  ; Bravo and my list goes on. TimeOutNY had to be one of my biggest this year. Of all these millions of people in NYC I'm the Most Stylish NewYorker?! Really?! Pinch ME!!

Q) What has your biggest accomplishment been so far?

A) My Website and Blog. I can finally show people who I am better than I can tell them :) I put my all into THEM!! My Babies.

Fashion's Night Out '11

It was my first time at the Fashions' Night Out, this year. It was pretty cool. I absolutely loved the energy, the crowd, the stores- pretty much EVERYTHING about it.

The first store I hit was Burberry and surprisingly, I met the Sri Lankan Beauty and Bollywood Actor, Jacqueline Fernandez. I couldn't get over how pretty she is IRL. Being the tiny person that I am, I had to slide through the bodygaurd's legs in order to get a snap with her... just kidding. I raised my camera in the air and like a nice person that she is, she literally came out of the circle for a picture and my mom clicked us a snap..or two.

I couldn't go inside the "Vogue Loves" store because the cue was extremely long and I wanted to check the WHOLE event out. I obviously ended up having swollen feet but it was worth it. There were designers like Manish Malhotra, Monisha Jaising, Neeru Kumar etc in this store.

I loved the stores there. One of them had live music playing and I couldn't help but click a snap of them, playing!

I fell in love with Rohit Bal, Tarun Tahiliani and Gaurav Gupta's store. Rohit Bal: Prive had absolutely stunning, jaw dropping pieces. Whereas Tarun Tahiliani's store was extremely vibrant and colorful. It was filled with all sorts of suits, saris, lahengas, embroidered bolero jackets, and potlis etc. Gaurav Gupta is my alter ego. He believes in sobriety. Especially, his current collection which has twenty five different colors in each style.
Thankfully, I was in time for a Fashion Show. This fashion show had aspiring models modeling in Raghuvendra Rathore and one of them won an year long contract with a magazine.

Mum and I had a fun night out. I enjoyed clicking pictures, testing fragrances, tripping over a bunch of unseen neutral wires whilst entering Tom Ford AND Tods. It is a shame that I couldn't meet Ms. Priya Tanna. :(

Armani Privé Fall 2011 Couture | Paris Haute Couture

Giorgio Armani is an Italian fashion designer, particularly noted for his menswear. He is known today for his clean, tailored lines. He formed his company Armani in 1975 and by 2001 was acclaimed as the most successful designer to come out of Italy with an annual turnover of $1.6 billion and a personal fortune of $7 billion as of 2011.

I think that by far he's one of the smartest designers/entrepreneurs and he has almost turned his creations into an art!

This Haute Couture which is not exactly a Haute Couture but a Haute Pret a Porter is somewhat inspired by the 40's trends for a very natural and elegant woman. It has also been inspired by the Japanese culture with a sleek take on Kimonos.

Often Imitated NEVER Duplicated: Rihanna

With her bewitching voice, Rihanna at 23 literally OWNS the music charts and has starred in her first Hollywood film. She is a role model to millions of girls out there. People could kill to have her voice, her style, her... well, everything. Everything about her is so special. Red hair curves intact, her playful badass self. She is daring and that is what I love about her. She is not afraid to change. In fact, she embraces change so beautifully!
"Perfect gentlemen could turn into eye popping, lip-smacking cartoons of their former selves practically tripping over one another as she would walk pass them!" As Jonathan Van Meter describes the way she literally kills them with the way she struts, in the latest edition of Vogue India. Her body is to die for. She has got the curves. And buddy, you can only have them if God is too kind to you or else you have got to work hard for it. The "Umbrella" hit maker is one of the most fashionable people ever. There is something different about Rihanna. Her aura is enchanting. She is opinionated and is not afraid of voicing her opinions. "She became a star before she became an adult. Her nature is to protect herself" her label chairman and CEO LA Reid said.
At the age of seven, she realized she had what it takes to become a singer. She would sit her friends down and start running around with a hairbrush for a microphone. She would pretend like she was making videos. Well now, after sixteen years, she has millions and millions of fans, a microphone instead of a hairbrush in hand and has so many successful songs and music videos!
Further, talking about her album Rated R which was released in 2009, which she co-wrote is largely about her relationship with Chris Brown."It was darker, edgier and more aggressive. I can't come out singing happy songs if I'm not happy. But I quickly found peace in myself. I just kind of shut down from that"she says to Jonathan Van Meter."I just let it go. I don't ever want to have to depend on a relationship. I think it's a really special thing to find love. It's beautiful! But I want to make sure that I find out others things in life that I love besides...love."
The blazer seems to be inspired from Michael Jackson's in his video "Thriller", eh?
